Through their partnership, BroadSoft and Sonus deliver a set of integrated solutions that accelerate the deployment of hosted and Cloud-based communications services by service providers. Based on a jointly developed reference architecture centered on BroadSoft’s BroadWorks application server platform and the Sonus portfolio of Session Boarder Controllers, these solutions enable service providers to offer new SIP Trunking and Unified Communication services as they migrate from delivery of Class 4 to Class 5 services and move onto SIP Trunking 2.0. In addition to technical collaboration, the two companies align sales, marketing and support activities
BroadSoft powers many of today’s most innovative Unified Communications solutions available in the market. Sonus partners with F5 Networks, the industry’s leader in Diameter signaling technology, to deliver integrated solutions designed to simplify the way service providers deliver differentiated mobile Unified Communications (UC) and multi-media experiences across networks of various operators and differing network types.
As the mounting use of mobile devices with longer battery lives drives demand for mobile broadband services by consumers and enterprise users who are always connected to the network, operators are constructing 4G networks based on LTE and IMS technologies. This will support the growing number of smartphones and devices and the required accessibility to mobile applications. To handle operational challenges encountered while addressing these needs and interconnecting across networks of various types, operators require sophisticated capabilities at the edge of their networks such as Diameter signaling for routing and SIP for security and session interworking.
The combination of capabilities from the Sonus SIP-based Session Border Controller (SBC) and the Diameter-based Edge Agent (DEA) and Routing Controller (DRC) from F5 Networks enables the delivery of multi-media broadband services in a scalable, billable, secure manner across networks. Service delivery and metering can now transcend network boundaries, across operators and across network types such as LTE to 3G. Operators are also able to retain their existing assets of 3G, while adding LTE elements to offer services that will support customers’ requirements for faster and better quality mobile broadband services.
The complete solution consisting of the SBC ad the SDC products and services is available through Sonus.
Sonus has partnered with Juniper Networks, the industry leader in network innovation, as part of Juniper’s Technology Alliance Program to jointly deliver integrated solutions designed to simplify the way service providers deliver differentiated Cloud-based Unified Communications (UC) and video experiences to enterprises. Based on the principles of Software Defined Networks (SDN), the combined solution integrates network intelligence from the application and session layers with that from the network and control layers to empowers service providers to deliver highly differentiated video and unified communications services.
The integration of Sonus 5000 Series of Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and the Juniper
Networks® MX Series Routers and SRC Policy Engine pools intelligence from the
application/session layers of the OSI stack with the network layer, allowing service providers
to effectively deal with the surge in video and Unified Communications (UC) traffic without
resorting to the overprovisioning of networks typically required in the past.
Service providers can now more effectively monetize their network assets by delivering tiered
service offerings with SLAs with real-time precision not previously possible. These solutions will enable service providers’ deployment to accelerate deployment of tiered levels of Cloud-based services to monetize their networks.
The two companies also cooperate on sales engagements, customer implementations and support.Juniper Homepage

The Unified Communication Interoperability Forum (UCI Forum) is a non-profit ecosystem of communications technology vendors with a shared goal to bring the promise of truly unified communications to life. Any hardware or software solution providers, service providers, or network operators are encouraged to join the forum. The UCI Forum’s vision is to enable interoperability of UC hardware and software across enterprises, service providers, and consumer clouds, as a means of protecting customer’s existing investments, simplifying their transition to more extended UC networks, and generating incremental business opportunity for all stakeholders in the ecosystem. Unlike existing standards organizations focused on a single media protocol, the UCI Forum aspires to cross the multiple boundaries of interoperability using existing standards rather than creating new ones. The work of the alliance may include: Publishing specifications and guidelines Defining test methodologies and certification programs Interfacing with other standards groups Liaising with regulatory governmental bodies responsible for UC.
