IMX 2.0 Multimedia Application Platform

The Sonus IMX® 2.0 platform is an innovative multimedia environment that enables service providers to quickly develop, integrate, launch and manage enhanced, fully branded applications and services. Just as Web 2.0 services reshaped the Internet landscape with highly personalized, interactive and media-rich applications, the IMX 2.0 helps service providers couple the best of the web and telephony models to deliver a new communications experience.

Within the IMX 2.0 is the Service Creation Environment (SCE), an easy-to use graphical interface that enables drag-and-drop generation of call flow logic and IVR dialogs integrated within a single interactive application. The SCE produces CCXML, VoiceXML, as well as ECMA scripts, which can be used to execute applications on a web server embedded within the IMX 2.0. Using the IMX 2.0 SCE and the JSR (Java Specification Request) 116 SIP Servlet API, service providers can quickly build service prototypes, socialize them with customers, and then modify them prior to introducing them to market.

The IMX 2.0 enables faster time-to-market for an assortment of applications in traditional IP-voice, pre-IMS and IMS networks, such as:

IMX 2.0 also enables service brokering, which combines different applications (including third-party and in-house applications) into unique service packages (e.g., prepaid calling, conferencing, presence-aware voicemail/find-me follow-me, etc.).

The IMX 2.0 operates as an integral component of the Sonus Networks IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), as well as other third-party environments. Within the IMS architecture, the IMX 2.0 functions as a SIP application server.
